Call to Art - ‘The Vanishing Bees’ Please Read all the info.
Show opens Saturday, May 5th, 2012

Runs through June 1st, 2012
At the Zzyzx Science Gallery within the Hive Gallery in Downtown Los Angeles

Theme - Why are our bees disappearing at an alarming rate? It’s an issue that can be potentially catastrophic for our food system. Bees not only create a sticky, honey delight for bears and humans alike, but also pollinate almost 100 of our farm produce foods (and many of our native plants too). They may be tiny, but their recent and dramatic decline is a big problem. We may find it’s one thing, but chances are it’s a combination of factors; pesticides, global warming , radiation from cell phone towers, genetically modified food crops …
The Vanishing Bees show is a chance to visually explore the lives of our petite friends.
We currently have 2 smaller walls within the Hive Gallery.

Really, there should never be a fee just to participate in a show!
You may have your work up just for show, or FOR SALE, your choice. You set your own price (commission runs from 5% to cover fees, up to 20% if the Hive Gallery runs the sales directly, but probably on the lower end, so just include that in your asking price)
Please make work APPROPRIATE TO THE THEME (really, I have gotten some off topic things before and I wouldn't want to say no :( Check out www.tarpits.org for some inspiration and really cool facts about prehistoric Los Angeles
Artwork must be READY TO HANG, or you must supply a shelf, etc, if needed.
PLEASE CONFIRM if you would like to be in the show and send PICS or DETAILS so I can plan the space.
PLEASE OPEN THE ATTACHED PDF - YOU WILL FIND TWO PAGES;
A simple artist waiver form
An artwork submission sheet
PLEASE make sure to fill BOTH of these out for submitted artwork.
This science related show will be running for 2 months, and opening during the almighty Downtown Artwalk, so tons of traffic (average of around 30,000 visitors on Artwalk night alone and this show will be up during 2 of those)
Yaaaaay - that's it now make some art!
Please let me know if you have any other questions and pass the info on to other art friends!
Thanks! Monster Kat
